Mishcon de Reya won awards for ‘Innovation in the Business of Law: Technology’ and ‘Innovation in the rule of law and access to justice’ at the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards ceremony.

The technology award recognised the firm’s technological initiatives around its everyday practices, as well as the launch of MDR Discover, the creation of a new Cyber Security offering and MDR LAB – our incubator programme for tech start-ups in the legal space.

The rule of law award was for Mishcon de Reya’s Article 50 Legal Challenge, in which the firm represented Gina Miller and established that the Secretary of State does not have the power under the prerogative to give notice pursuant to Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union. Since the Supreme Court decision, an Act of Parliament has been passed and Article 50 has been triggered in line with the necessary procedural steps.

Mishcon de Reya Executive Partner James Libson, one of the Partners who led the Article 50 Legal Challenge, was also shortlisted for Legal Innovator of the Year.
