Polo shirts and geeks: Inside Mishcon’s tech incubator

In a bright, crowded meeting room on the first floor of Mishcon de Reya’s Africa House building, chief technology officer Nick West walks onstage. All around, the audience have taken their seats and the sound of people chatting noisily gradually fades. On the left side, a group of professionals of various ages, wearing Mishcon-logoed polo shirts, line up close to the wall, visibly excited. The cameras turn to the stage.

During this time of tech advancement, the business is changing rapidly and we want to be at the forefront of innovation,” West declares to the audience, a mixture of lawyers, journalists, entrepreneurs and potential investors.

For the second year the firm has developed MDR LAB, a tech incubator designed to help young companies go from early-stage concepts to finished, sellable products. Now, it’s time to see the fruits.
